take one ‘picture’…

There’s something about a concertina sketchbook; the format seems so perfect for the narrative I wish to convey. It goes on and on and on. You can fold the book in various ways so different landscapes appear; a never-ending source of delight!

I have created several of these books, all based on linear landscapes, ranging from the river near my previous home, the field edges around my current home, and the big sky county of Norfolk, not much more than an hour away…

The north Norfolk coast is a seascape of big skies, distant horizons, creeks, inlets, marram grass swaying on the dunes, songs of wading birds carrying on the breeze…

This endless landscape provides a veritable feast of inspiration for my work…culminating in Coastal Tales 2, a concertina sketchbook that captures the essence of this coastline….

Coastal Tales 2 has now sold…

And night is falling , still and cool, on each broad marsh and silent pool.
